In 2012, after the tragic death of a co-worker Leslie resigned her position with the hospital and the union, stepping away from working full-time at the patient bedside, to establish Nurse’s Children Foundation Inc. (NCF), a non-profit organization committed to raising funds to financially benefit children who have suffered the loss of a parent in the nursing profession.
December 2015, Leslie Silket became a Jefferson Award Winner – Bay Area Region for her commitment to her profession and to the families of fallen nurses.
