Leslie Silket, a registered nurse for 22 years, understood the many risks and hardships associated with being a nurse when she founded Nurse’s Children Foundation.
“On December 12th 2011, I received life changing news. One of my close friends had been diagnosed with untreatable cancer. A dedicated nurse, this single mother was trying to raise a family on her own under the stress and pressure of her profession. I thought to myself, “If her life were to end, what would happen to her children? Who would take care of them? Would they be able to go to school? Could they afford to follow their educational dreams? And would that happen for other sons and daughters across the nation whose parents were to pass away as RN’s?” At that moment I received my calling to start Nurse’s Children Foundation.” – Leslie Silket, RN
NCF is designed to extend monetary educational assistance and collect funds through donations and other sources of gift giving. The objective is to provide college scholarships and stipends to support the academic career of these children in need. Nurse’s Children Foundation honors the RN’s who have passed away by dedicating financial assistance to support the future of their sons and daughters.
